What types of screen materials are used in screen printing machines?

2024-04-17
There are a wide variety of screen materials for screen printing machines, and each material has its own unique characteristics and applicable scenarios. The following are several common screen materials, their characteristics and applicable scenarios:

Silk screen (tulle mesh): Woven from natural silk, it has the characteristics of strong water resistance, good hygroscopicity, easy stretching operation and good combination with photosensitive adhesive. However, its wear resistance and chemical resistance are poor, it is easy to age and become brittle, and its cost is also high. Therefore, most of them have now been replaced by synthetic fibers, but they are still used in some scenarios that have special requirements for materials.

Nylon mesh (nylon mesh): woven from nylon monofilament, it has high strength, wear resistance, chemical resistance, water resistance and good elasticity. Due to the uniform wire diameter and smooth surface, the ink has excellent passability. However, within a period of time after the web is stretched, the tension of the web will decrease due to stress relaxation, resulting in a reduction in printing plate accuracy. Therefore, it is not suitable for printing prints that require high dimensional accuracy.

Polyester mesh (polyester mesh): It has the advantages of solvent resistance, high temperature resistance, water resistance, chemical resistance, etc. It has low stretchability and stable physical properties. Compared with nylon screen, its wear resistance is slightly worse, but it is more suitable for printing prints with high dimensional accuracy.

Stainless steel wire mesh: Made of stainless steel material, it has excellent wear resistance, corrosion resistance and high strength. This screen material is particularly useful in printing scenarios that require long-term durability and high wear resistance, such as industrial signage, outdoor advertising, etc.

When selecting screen materials, you need to comprehensively consider factors such as specific printing needs, cost budget, and application scenarios. At the same time, the operation and maintenance of screen printing machines with different materials may also be different, so it is necessary to ensure that the operators have the appropriate skills and knowledge.
